Danforth Jr. High Newsletter
Monday, September 26, 2022
Principal’s Message
Thank you, families, for taking the time to read through this weekly newsletter. I know time is limited and information seems endless. My last newsletter had a lot of information. I realize most of us have been inundated with dates, deadlines, and details in the first few weeks of the school year. This week, I’ll keep things a little lighter, so you can focus on the really important stuff from the really important people (see below).
Before I close, please let me express my gratitude for the support, communication, generosity, and kindness that so many of our Danforth families have provided to our staff during these opening weeks of the school year. Thank you for helping our school continue the committment to excellence for our children.
Christi Moeller Principal, Danforth Junior High
PS–We have clubs at Danforth JH! Here is a list of the clubs that are currently offered on campus. Talk to your child about the Danforth clubs to see if there is a good match for his or her interests.

More detailed info about other Danforth activities
Wimberley Homecoming is the weekend of Oct. 7-9. This is a Wimberley High School event, but we realize that students at Danforth often enjoy getting in on the celebration. In light of that, we will allow our DJH students to wear homecoming mums to school on Thursday, Oct. 6 (there is no school on Friday, Oct. 7). We do request that the mums worn at school do not include bells or noisemakers, and that the size of the mums/decorations are not so large as to cause issues with students doing normal school activities, like walking in halls and sitting in class. If a student’s mum causes too much distraction/disruption, we can keep it in the office until the end of the day. The homecoming football game in on Friday, Oct. 7 at Texan Stadium.
From Courtney Katzmeyer, Theatre Arts Auditions for this year's UIL One Act Play will be Monday, September 26th from 3:35-5:00 PM in the WHS theater. Callbacks will be the following day at the same time and location. OAP is open to all Danforth students and offers both technical theatre and acting roles. For more information, email courtney.katzmeyer-vielma@wimberleyisd.net
From Erin Sivils, Attendance
Attendance:
We have completed the last day of the first six weeks. Please turn in any attendance notes that have not been turned in. I need them by Friday 9/30/22. Attendance notes should be turned into the wooden box on the counter in the front office.
If you need help locating it, you may ask an adult in the front office.
Student ID Badges:
If a student loses or damages their student ID, please have them purchase a new one in the front office. It costs $5.00 and needs to be paid with cash or check. Please bring in damaged badges or lost badges if they are found. If a student badge is not working, please see Mrs. Sivils in the front office. Any questions concerning badges, please ask Erin Sivils.
From Teresa Gill, National Junior Honor Society
The induction ceremony for NJHS will be held in the Danforth cafeteria on Tuesday, September 27 at 6:00 PM. If you have any questions regarding NJHS, the selection process or you were previously inducted into another chapter, please contact Mrs. Gill at teresa.gill@wimberleyisd.net.
From Lori Pharis, Counselor
At Danforth, we communicate in many different forms for students and parents. This weekly newsletter is one of the best as Mrs. Moeller compiles information each week to share with parents & students. Other ways are through the Danforth PTO Facebook page, announcements at school for students, lunchtime slideshow, grade level meetings, teacher emails, SportsYou app for athletes, etc. Another important communication option is the whole school Google Classroom. This Google Classroom is meant for all teachers and students and provides a quick and easy way to reference information for the whole school. Guardians can join as well once their student has joined. Ask your student to join Danforth's Whole School Google Classroom, if they have not already done so. Once they have joined, you can be invited as a guardian. The join code for students and teachers is: 6yrn6hx
