Principal’s Message
About this time last year there were many Spring Break plans that were derailed by you-know-what. This year though it seems like –from parent conversations I’ve had –there are A LOT of people ready to have a REAL Spring Break. We’ve still got this COVID mess hanging around, but it sure seems like the fear and uncertainty from a year ago has been replaced with a good dose of optimism and hope......and that’s sure good to hear.So this week we have four regular school days and then a half day on Friday, March 12th. If you pick up your child from school, pick up time on Friday will be 11:45 am. Bus riders will leave our campus about12:00 pm.
The half day on Friday for students will free up the teachers and staff to participate in training with Dr. Adam Saenz. All of us here at the school have been working with him for about a year on Social Emotional Learning. So students will start their break around lunch time on Friday and our staff will get to start theirs when the Dr. Saenz training has concluded. Regardless of what your plans are.........go enjoy that REAL Spring Break next week. Thanks for taking a look at the Newsletter.

From Erin Sivils, Attendance Secretary
Parents, I have updated the attendance page on our Danforth website. I encourage you to take a look. It answers many questions about attendance; especially in this new "online attendance" world. It will give you information on when to send a note and what information needs to be included in the note. Even if your child attends in-person, be sure to check out the online attendance criteria for when they are absent or quarantined. What isn't new is the fact that attendance notes are still needed within 3 days of the absence whether you are in-person or online. Attendance laws are still in effect even in this new world of online learning. Bottom line... kids learn best when they are in attendance in-person and "live" in the virtual classroom.
