Principal’s Message

When our kids were still young enough to be at home, by this point in May we had some sort of a plan for what the summer would look like.  Well actually my wife usually had the plan.  It was something like Strength & Speed Camp, Tennis Camp, Basketball Camp, Music Camp, VBS, and of course some sort of vacation.  But before I go too much further down memory lane I need to remind myself our family was blessed to have jobs that allowed for a summer schedule that made activities like those easier to navigate.  Some families don’t have that luxury, but they still figure out a way to make time for as many activities as possible.  Our 28 year old daughter was visiting this past weekend for Mother’s Day.  When I asked her about what she was working on for her children there was a bit of discussion about summer activities and she said, “Camps are fun and we definitely have some great activities planned but here’s the thing about summer.  As parents we only get about 18 summers with each child and we need to remember to make the most of the time we have.”  Well that sounded pretty good to me, so it ended up in this space. 


So while we’re all looking to set aside some time for our students to improve athletic, academic or musical skills….let’s carve out some quality time for family too.

Tuesday, May 14th – READING STAAR TEST for 6th & 7th grade; 8th grade (Reading Retest only)

Wednesday, May 15th – SCIENCE STAAR TEST for 8th grade

Thursday, May 16th – SOCIAL STUDIES STAAR TEST for 8th grade


Tuesday, May 21st – Academic Awards Ceremony (parents will be notified if their child is receiving an award)

8th grade Awards; 8 am

7th grade Awards; 9 am

6th grade Awards; 10 am

1:55 pm – 7th period Spring Semester Exam

Wednesday, May 22nd – Semester Exams

1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th period Spring Semester Exams

Thursday, May 23rd – Semester Exams5th and 6th Semester Exams

Car Riders released 12 pm

Bus Riders depart school at approximately 12:10 pm

Two Age Divisions

Incoming 3rd – 5th grade girls and boys or Incoming 6th – 9th grade girls and boys 

$60 per camper and $50 for each additional family member

Where:  Wimberley High School Gym

Doors Open:  4:30pm – 5:30

Who:  All incoming 7th, 9th, & 11th graders.

(Current 6th, 8th, & 10th graders)

Cost:  $25.00 – Physical

If paying by check, please make check payable to:  WHS

Please include Drivers License number and a phone number

To expedite the evening, we ask that all paperwork be filled out ahead of time. This will speed up the process and prevent delays.  All medical release, medical history, medical emergency, and acknowledgement of rules forms must be completed before a sports physical can be performed.  We also ask that you dress appropriately by wearing t-shirt and shorts.  A paper copy can be obtained from your student/athletes sport coach beginning April 22, 2019.  If you have any questions please call Johnny Gonzales, Athletic Trainer, at 847-3211, Ext. 3203

From Stephanie Barthels, High School Volleyball Coach

It's time to plan for the Lady Texan Volleyball Camp 2019.  We are offering 3 sessions this year.  Session I will be for current grades 3 thru 5.  Session II will be held for incoming grades 7 and 8 and Session III for incoming 9th graders interested in playing volleyball their freshman year.


Session #1 Current 3rd – 5th Graders

May 6-8                 3:30 pm- 5:30 pm

Cost:  $60   Includes Camp T-shirt



Session #2 Incoming 7th – 8th Graders

July 29-31              1:00 pm- 4:00 pm

Cost:  $70   Includes Camp T-shirt



Session #3 Incoming 9th Graders

July 29-31             1:00 pm-4:00 pm

Cost:  $70    Includes Camp T-shirt
