Winter Weather: School Closure Extended Through Thursday, Feb. 2
February 1, 2023
Due to continued unsafe travel conditions in and around the Wimberley Valley and in consideration of information from Hays County Emergency Management and the Austin/San Antonio office of the National Weather Service (NWS), Wimberley ISD campuses and offices will remain closed through Thursday, February 2.
We considered a two-hour delayed start, but in order for our Transportation Department and our families to deliver students to campuses on time, they would be required to begin routes in unsafe conditions. It is anticipated that travel conditions will improve around noon on Thursday, so afternoon/evening activities will be allowed to take place on Thursday, February 2. We will continue to closely monitor conditions and if they don’t improve as expected, we will communicate with those students and families that are affected. Students and families should refer to normal team/activity communication channels to receive the latest information on Thursday evening’s schedules. In addition, campus and district leadership, maintenance, and custodial staff will be asked to report to work tomorrow when safe travel conditions allow, to ensure our buildings are ready for school on Friday. These staff will receive more detailed communication from their supervisors.
We expect to be open as usual on Friday, February 3. If any schedule modifications are needed for Friday, we will provide updates via phone, email, text, and the district website.

Wimberley ISD has continued to monitor the winter weather conditions while relying on information and guidance from Hays County Emergency Management and the Austin/San Antonio office of the National Weather Service (NWS). Due to the latest forecasts and current conditions, all Wimberley ISD campuses and offices will remain closed through Wednesday, February 1.
The district will continue to evaluate conditions in conjunction with our local Emergency Management Services and the NWS throughout Wednesday to see if any schedule modifications will be needed for Thursday, February 2.
January 30, 2023
Wimberley ISD has been communicating throughout the morning with Hays County Emergency Management to monitor weather conditions and forecasts. Based on this information and guidance, WISD will release all campuses at their normal times today, Monday, January 30. However, all after-school activities and practices have been canceled. This decision has been made by looking at hourly temperature and precipitation forecasts and determining the safest option for our students and families. The Kid Connection program at Jacob’s Well Elementary and Blue Hole Primary will be open as usual on Monday, but parents are encouraged to pick up their children as early as possible to ensure safe travel for you and our staff members.
In addition, due to the forecasted precipitation and freezing temperatures, all Wimberley ISD campuses and offices will be CLOSED on Tuesday, January 31.
The district will continue to evaluate conditions on Tuesday in conjunction with Emergency Management Services to determine whether school can safely be held on Wednesday, February 1. Communication will be sent on Tuesday by 4 p.m. to notify parents of any changes to the regular school schedule for Wednesday, February 1.
