Wimberley HS Finishes in Top-10 of 4A Lone Star Cup Standings

June 20, 2022

Wimberley High School finished in eighth place in the 2021-22 UIL Lone Star Cup standings, its highest finish since a seventh place finish in 2009-10. Lone Star Cup points are accrued by a school's team performance in district and state championships. For the Texans, the scoring teams were: volleyball (12 points), boys track and field (10), girls soccer (10), team tennis (9), UIL Academics/speech (8), football (8), spring tennis (5), boys basketball (4), baseball (4), boys soccer (2), girls basketball (2), softball (2), and spirit (1).

Among the top-10 finishers in 4A, WHS has the lowest enrollment and is the only school that will be classified in 4A-Division II (for football purposes) next fall. Three of the top-10 4A finishers will be participating in 5A next school year (Argyle, Melissa, and Midlothian Heritage).

The Texans finished in 16th place in 2020-21 and in 20th in the COVID-shortened 2019-20 school year.
