State Golf: Jaxon Donaldson Wins Silver Medal; Hallie Adare Finishes in 5th Place
May 18, 2022
Wimberley HS had two golfers qualify for the 4A State Tournament, and each of them placed in the top-5. WHS sophomore Jaxon Donaldson competed first, on May 9-10 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland. Jaxon, the 4A individual champion in 2021 as a freshman, was the leader after day one, shooting a 5-under par 67 on the par 72 course. 2021's runner-up, Gaven Lane of Argyle was three shots back. On the second day, Jaxon shot a 3-over 75, to finish with a two-day total of 142, two under par. Argyle's Lane shot a 66 on the second day to finish with a state-record setting total of 136 - eight under par. That left Jaxon with a state silver medal as he finished three shots ahead of the third place finisher. (See full results here.)
On May 16-17, WHS senior Hallie Adare competed in the girls' state tournament on the same course. Hallie opened with a 77, which was good enough to put her in a tie for seventh place heading into day two. Hallie improved her score on that second day, with a total of 75, improving her final position in the overall girls' standings to fifth place. Her two-day total of 152 was eight over par, and eight shots back of 4A champion Alexandra Hileman. (See full results here.)
Both golfers are coached by WHS golf coach Dane Saucier.
