Updates/Information from the WISD COVID Task Force
September 24, 2021
We communicated two weeks ago about additional documents that we were creating with the goal of adding clarity about our COVID-19 protocols for this school year. While creating these documents we sought feedback at a joint meeting of the WISD COVID Task Force and the board-appointed Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC). This combined group also included several parents from our district.
After receiving feedback from the stakeholders that reviewed first drafts of these documents and implementing updates and changes, the documents were shared with the WISD Board of Trustees at their meeting on Monday, September 20. At this time, the documents are now ready to be shared with you. The documents have been posted to the COVID-19 section of the district website (also attached).
The aim of this document is to provide clarity to our families about "next steps" through a variety of COVID-related scenarios.
Both documents are subject to change as conditions warrant or based on updates provided by the state of Texas, the Texas Education Agency, or the Hays County Local Health Department. Both documents will soon be available in Spanish.
Additionally, a new notification system will be in place beginning next week that gives our secondary parents more details on the active cases at Danforth Junior High and Wimberley High School. The class period schedules of students reporting positive COVID cases will be posted online, allowing our families the opportunity to see if their student is a "class contact" of a positive case. Consistent with our other legal confidentiality requirements, no identifying information will be shared - only the class period and instructor of COVID-positive students. More information on this notification system will be shared when it launches next week.
