WHS Girls' and Boys' Soccer Players Receive Accolades

Members of both the Wimberley HS girls' and boys' soccer teams were recognized by receiving season accolades.
Leading the way for the Lady Texas was sophomore forward Emily Thames and freshman midfielder Izzy Franchione who were named to the Texas Assocation of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) First-Team All-State Squad. Thames was also named the District 26-4A Utility Player of the Year and Franchione was District Newcomer of the Year. TASCO also named senior Sunny Jones First-Team All-Region IV, senior Holly Harwood Second-Team All-Region IV, and head coach Brinton Nute (right) the Region IV Coach of the Year.
In addition to the District 26-4A superlatives received by Thames and Franchione other Lady Texans were honored as well. Harwood was named First-Team All-District, along with junior Lexi Howell and freshman Selah Jones. Named to the Second-Team were senior Sunny Jones, senior Arianna Hernandez, and sophomore Claire Valentine. Junior Elise Brown, sophomores Izzy Frank and Natalie Figueroa, and freshman Sydney Hendon were all Honorable Mention All-District.
The Lady Texans finished the season with a 24-6-2 record and lost to Corpus Christi Calallen in the Region IV final.
There were eight all-district honorees on the boys' side. Freshman Nick Dunn was named the District Newcome of the Year. First-Team All-District honorees were juniors Lucas Craig and Connor Collier. Second-Teamers were junior Jack Bruner and sophomore Gage Tumlinson. Honorable Mention honorees were juniors Tate Murphy and Charles Tamplin and sophomore Brandon Carrillo.
The Texans had an overall record of 13-7-2 and lost to Taylor in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
