- Wimberley Ind School Dist
Schedule Notice: WISD to Have Delayed Start on Jan. 17
January 16, 2024
All Wimberley ISD campuses will be on a delayed start for students on Wednesday, January 17.
The National Weather Service has forecasted average wind chill values between 10-15 degrees across our area through about 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. To ensure our students and staff who will be outdoors for extended times remain safe, we have implemented the delayed start. The start times at each campus are as follows:
- Blue Hole Primary: Doors open: 9:20 a.m., First Bell: 9:50 a.m.
- Jacob’s Well Elementary: Doors open: 9:00 a.m., First Bell: 9:40 a.m.
- Danforth Junior High: Doors open: 9:15 a.m., Tutorials: 9:30 a.m., First Bell: 9:55 a.m.
- Wimberley High: Tutorials: 9:30 a.m., First Bell: 9:55 a.m.
- *Note: The dual-credit, ACC classes at WHS will be held tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
All morning bus routes will be delayed for approximately two hours. For example if your student is normally picked up at 6:45 a.m., you can expect that pickup tomorrow to be at approximately 8:45 a.m. Login to the SMART Tag bus system to see the predicted route arrival times.
The forecast for the rest of the week does not call for these extreme wind chills like we’ve experienced early in the week, so all WISD families can expect normal schedules to be in place following Wednesday’s delayed start. Thank you for your continued support and partnership with Wimberley ISD!
January 15, 2024
All Wimberley ISD campuses will be CLOSED for students and teachers on Tuesday, January 16. Principals and supervisors will be in touch with employees that need to report to work to ensure our campuses can be operational on Wednesday.
While there isn’t expected to be ice accumulation on our local roadways, the National Weather Service has forecasted extreme wind chills (below zero) for tomorrow until 11:00 a.m. which has influenced our decision to close. We are mindful of those students who must wait at, or walk to bus stops, as well as the numerous staff members who must be outdoors for extended periods of time to ensure safe student drop-off in the mornings.
Based on the current forecasted Wind Chill Advisory for early Wednesday morning, we anticipate the potential for a delayed start for school on Wednesday. We will be monitoring the forecast tomorrow. Please be attuned to further communication from us on Tuesday afternoon about Wednesday’s school schedule. Thank you for your continued support and partnership with Wimberley ISD!
