WISD to Host BHP Library Naming Dedication in Honor of Johnna Dennis

January 11, 2024

Wimberley ISD will host a special dedication ceremony on Friday, February 16, 2024 to commemorate the naming of the Johnna Beth Dennis Library at Blue Hole Primary School.

The Wimberley community is invited to attend the event to be held at 4:00 p.m. at Blue Hole Primary, beginning outside and moving indoors for light refreshments and the opportunity to celebrate and honor memories of Ms. Dennis. There is no school on February 16th for WISD students, as teachers will be participating in professional development during the day.

Ms. Dennis was a longtime Wimberley educator, who passed away in August following a courageous battle with cancer. During its regular meeting on September 18, 2023 the WISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved to name the Blue Hole Primary library in honor of Ms. Dennis. She inspired WISD students for 30 years, showcasing a commitment to her students and peers that had an immeasurable impact. During her final year at WISD, as a second grade teacher at Blue Hole Primary, she was voted Teacher of the Year by her peers. She leaves behind a legacy to be admired and treasured, and will now be forever immortalized with her name showcased on the exterior of the library at Blue Hole Primary.
