Members of the Wimberley High School UIL Academic Team competed at the state meet held at the University of Texas at Austin on May 6-7. Senior Quinton Mendoza earned two medals, a gold in Current Events and a silver in Social Studies. Mendoza's stellar finishes led each of those teams to high placings as well. The Current Events team earned a silver medal and the Social Studies team was third. In Current Events, Mendoza finished with the highest score in the state, regardless of classification. It was his second consecutive State Championship in Current Events.

During the Speech events on May 24-25, senior Jack Garrett won a silver medal in Prose Interpretation and teammate Azula Hunter-Thiam was close behind - winning a bronze medal in the same event. Jack also advanced to finals in Persuasive Speaking, finishing 6th.
