Texan Football Team Members Earn 2021 Postseason Honors

Multiple members of the 4A Region IV semifinalist Wimberley Texan football team have been recognized with postseason honors. A total of 29 players were named to the all-district team, including many who were recognized on both offense and defense. In addition, Wimberley won five of the district superlative awards. The District 14-4A-II honors are:
District MVP
Juan Olmedo, sr. - Had 779 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns (12 receiving, 3 rushing), both of which led the team. Also had 42 tackles, 2 interceptions on defense in the regular season.
Offensive MVP
Moses Wray, sr. - Had 969 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns. Also added 118 yards receiving. Surpassed 4,000 total yards during his Texans career.
Newcomer of the Year
Cash McCollum, so. - Completed 69% of his passes for 2,336 yards and 28 touchdowns, with only seven interceptions.
Lineman MVP
Ethan Lancaster, sr. - Anchored the offensive and defensive lines.
Coaching Staff of the Year
Wimberley HS - Head Coach Doug Warren completed his ninth season leading the Texans. All nine of his teams have made the playoffs and he has compiled a record of 78-42 (65% winning percentage).

Ball, Kincaid, Simpson, and Bruner were First Team honorees at multiple positions. Randig was First Team offense and Second Team defense, and Schatte was Honorable Mention on both offense and defense.
The following team members were also named to the Austin American-Statesman's All-Central Texas football team:
Nathan Simpson - First Team Defensive Back; also named as candidate for Defensive Player of the Year
Juan Olmedo - Third Team Utility player
Jack Bruner - Third Team Kicker
Cash McCollum - Named as candidate for Newcomer of the Year

To be nominated for the THSCA Academic All-State team, a student must be:
- An athlete, student trainer or manager in good standing with the team
- Of good moral character
- A senior
- Have an overall grade point average of 92 or above (including courses from grades 9-11 and courses completed from grade 12). Weighted GPAs accepted.
