WHS's Jaxon Donaldson Wins Regional Golf Title, Qualifying for State; Hallie Adare finishes 4th
April 23, 2021
Wimberley High School freshman Jaxon Donaldson qualified for the state golf tournament by winning the 4A-Region IV tournament held at Colony Creek Country Club in Victoria on April 21-22. Donaldson shot a two-day total of 145 (69 on Wednesday and 76 on Thursday) to win the tournament by five strokes over second place Travis Garcia of Pleasanton. Donaldson's 69 on the first day of the tournament was the lowest round shot by any competitor at the tournament.
The 4A boys state tournament is scheduled for May 17-18 at Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle.
Also competing at the Region IV tournament on April 19-20 was WHS junior Hallie Adare. Adare shot rounds of 78 and 77 over the two-day tournament for a total of 155 - just 3 strokes shy of qualifying for the state tournament. Adare finished in fourth place in the region behind Mallory Matthews of Hondo, Lacey Stevens of Pleasanton, and Jennifer Xac of Tuloso-Midway.
Both Donaldson and Adare won district championships at the District 28-4A tournament in March. The golf teams are coached by Dane Saucier.
