Wimberley HS seniors Juniper Daniel and Jaxon Donaldson signed their letters of intent on November 8th to continue their athletic careers in college.
Daniel, a star for the Lady Texans softball team, will play for St. Edward's University in Austin. Donaldson, a three-time 4A state golf medalist, will play for Texas State University in San Marcos. Daniel has played on the varsity softball team since her freshman year. She has been named First-Team All-District once (2022) and Second-Team All-District twice (2021, 2023) for the Lady Texans. She is also a two-time Academic All-District honoree. In her three years on the team, Daniel has played in 71 games with a .328 batting average and has accumulated five homeruns, 59 runs batted in, 64 runs, and 18 stolen bases. The WHS softball team has advanced to the playoffs in two of Daniel's three seasons. Donaldson is a two-time 4A state champion for the Texans golf team. He won the 2021 and 2023 state titles and finished as state runner-up in 2022. He was also District and Region IV champion in both 2021 and 2022. At the 2023 state tournament, Donaldson tied two state records. His score of 66 on the second day of the tournament was equal to the lowest ever 4A second round score, and his overall score of 8-under par 136 tied the conference record for lowest overall score. In addition, Donaldson led the Texans team to a qualifying spot in the state tournament, the first team from WHS to make the state event since 1994. Donaldson will join former Lady Texans golfer Hallie Adare (WHS Class of 2022) on the Texas State golf roster.
