Breakfast and Lunch Meals Free for All Students in 2021-22
August 9, 2021
The Wimberley ISD Child Nutrition Department has announced that for the 2021-22 school year student breakfast and lunch meals will be free to ALL students. Adult/visitor meals and any "á la carte" items (ice cream, extra milk, separate entree, chips, etc.) will be available at WISD cafeterias for a charge. (Adult/visitor breakfasts are $2.50, adult/visitor lunches are $4.50.) Students or adults must have funds in their meal account, or cash, to purchase these items. If a student is purchasing a second or additional meal, it also must be purchased.
WISD does request that all families complete a free and reduced lunch application, however, it will not affect your child's ability to receive free breakfast and lunch this year. The free meal opportunity for this year is a result of guidance issued by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost. It is expected that the income eligibility requirement to receive free meals will resume for the 2022-23 school year.
