Successful Lady Texan Volleyball Season Ends in Regional Quarterfinals
November 8, 2022
The Wimberley High School Lady Texan Volleyball team's season ended in the regional quarterfinals against eventual state semifinalist Bellville HS. The Lady Texans finished 32-11 on the season, the fourth year in a row to notch at least 30 wins.
The Lady Texans finished as the number two seed from District 27-4A, tying Fredericksburg with an 8-4 district record, but winning the tiebreaker thanks to a season sweep of the Lady Billies. At the halfway point of the district season the Lady Texans were the owners of a 3-3 district record, but on the strength of a four-match winning streak to close district play, the Lady Texans finished 8-4. In bi-district, Wimberley swept Young Women's Leadership Academy (San Antonio) 25-17, 25-13, 25-16, and in area they dispatched Needville 25-17, 25-13, 25-9, avenging the regional final loss to the Lady Jays from 2021.
In the regional quarterfinals, the Lady Texans won the first game against Bellville HS 25-23, but lost the next three: 17-25, 21-25, 23-25 in a competitive back-and-forth match.
