Texan Watch
The Texan Watch program is open to all Wimberley Valley community members, including WISD parents and other citizens. Members of the Texan Watch will have duties at the direction of the campus administration and can be in a variety of roles, with a primary focus of being an additional set of responsible eyes and ears on our campuses. A team member also might work at a variety of times, including at morning drop-off, lunch time, recess, afternoon pick-up, and/or at special events such as Grandparents’ Day, award ceremonies, pep rallies, field days, etc.

Step 3: You will be contacted to schedule the required Texan Watch volunteer training session. At this training, each participant will learn about:
- WISD's Standard Response Protocol
- The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course
- Stop the Bleed (STB) course
- WISD's volunteer requirements and expectations
Step 4: Sign in to WISD's Raptor program, where campus administrators will be able to "post" Texan Watch opportunities at specific events on their campuses, which you will be able to sign-up for through the Raptor system.

Campus Volunteer
An adult that is willing to be a room parent, clerical help, library aide, help serve lunch, etc.

PTO Volunteer
For members of one of our campuses' Parent Teacher Organization. These members assist on our campuses as part of their PTO duties; in general, they perform tasks that support our staff and students.

Rotary Readers
Members of this group must be part of the Rotary Club of Wimberley. These volunteers provide reading support to students in need of additional reading practice.

Best Buds
Wimberley Best Buds is a mentor program for all Wimberley kids. They have been serving the community since 2016 by providing volunteer mentors to meet with individual children on the WISD campuses for 30 minutes each week. Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact Courtenay Kehl at wimberleybestbuds@gmail.com.

Field Trip Chaperone (day trip)
The adult volunteer for a day trip (leaves for and returns from field trip on the same day) is assigned a group of students from a class.

The adult volunteer for a overnight trip (at least one night is spent away from home on the trip) is assigned a group of students from a class/club/activity.

Required Training

Training Dates will be provided by WISD at no cost on the first Wednesday of each month, ending in May. (Sign up for training dates here.) They will be held in the Board Room of the Administration Building (951 FM 2325, Wimberley) from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (SRP: 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. and CRASE/STB: 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.)
Different volunteer opportunities require different training. Please read the descriptions above to see what is required for the role that interests you.
