Dr. Michelle Turek, Assistant Superintendent
In May 2026, Dr. Michelle Turek was unanimously approved by the WISD Board of Trustees as the Assistant Superintendent.
Dr. Turek has worked in education since 2009, and as a campus administrator since 2013 - most recently as Elementary Principal and Associate High School Principal in Shiner ISD. In the spring of 2026, she was recognized as the Educator of the Year by the Shiner Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Turek’s experience also includes time as Interim Superintendent and Principal at Sweet Home ISD, roles as both Principal and Assistant Principal at Gonzales ISD, and stints as Principal at multiple schools in Houston. She began her career as an English-Language Arts teacher and also served as an instructional specialist prior to serving as a campus administrator.
Dr. Turek has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington, and received her Doctorate in Education in Learning and Organizational Change from Baylor University.
She and her husband Michael have one son, Cam.
