Wimberley ISD is a steward of a Character Education Curriculum as mandated by Senate Bill 123 (2021). The intent of this curriculum is to create and maintain an environment for our students and staff to thrive. Dictionaries today give 'to grow or develop well' as thrive's primary meaning. Wimberley ISD’s plan is “to grow or develop students well”. It is our expectation that our students will grow into thriving human beings as they reach the point of becoming a WISD Graduate. A Texan, with Texan Pride. To us, that includes “All of Us”.  We researched and even piloted other curriculums, and we longed for something that better embraced our community's values and purpose. Therefore, our very own WISD teachers created the curriculum for our students around the five basic character competencies.

TEXAN Roots

Each grade level will have all 5 qualities taught to them.  4 lessons in the classroom, and 1 lesson at John Knox Ranch where they will get hands-on experience practicing the competencies.

TEXAN WEEK

Campus Counselors will organize this week in the fall semester to bring all five competencies into one fluid week that is relevant to their particular campus. One day for each competency and TEXAN letter. They will be creative by bringing the entire campus in alignment to what it means to be a TEXAN.  ALL SCHOOLS will participate. Possible district wide events by Director of Student Services will also be implemented, and community events hosted by partners in the community.
