Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for WISD! Our volunteers serve important roles on our campuses that positively impact the learning experience for our students and staff. We value our volunteers, and we want them to feel informed and comfortable in their roles, whether on campuses or on field trips.

Before volunteering to work with students, we ask that all potential volunteers complete a DPS background check, attend required school safety and student support training, and read/sign WISD Acknowledgement forms that are kept on file. (Please note: the DPS background check must be completed at the beginning of each school year for all volunteers, including “returning” volunteers.) Please read below about the volunteer opportunities at WISD.

If you have questions about volunteering with WISD, please contact Christi Moeller, WISD's Director of Safety and School Initiatives, or the campus principal of the location you'd like to volunteer.

Required Training

All potential WISD volunteers need to complete district-provided training and fill out the WISD Acknowledgement Forms (provided at the training sessions) before volunteering on campuses or serving as chaperones on field trips.

Training will be provided by WISD at no cost on the first Wednesday of most months. Trainings will be held in the Board Room of the Administration Building (951 FM 2325, Wimberley) from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (SRP/Student Support training: 9 a.m. - 10:05 a.m. and CRASE/Student Support training: 9:45 a.m. - 11 a.m.)

Different volunteer opportunities require different training. Please read the descriptions above to see what is required for the role that interests you.

Volunteering at WISD

Dear Texan Family Volunteer,

I want to personally thank you for partnering with Wimberley ISD and agreeing to serve as a volunteer. We are honored that you have chosen to make a commitment to support our outstanding students and staff. In today's world, operating a consistently successful school district is not possible without a supportive community and a strong volunteer base. Your dedication to WISD allows our staff to prioritize their energies on our students above all else, which creates an environment for everyone to thrive. We value that each of you bring special gifts and talents into our buildings and into the lives of our students and staff, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you will enhance our district. We want to make sure your volunteer experience is the best it can be, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or see opportunities for improvement. We strive to be a continuously learning organization and always want your valuable time to be used as productively as possible. WISD is a special place and it's a privilege serving our students and community through the work we do. Please know we are profoundly grateful for your willingness to come alongside us and support our district!

-Dr. Greg Bonewald, WISD Superintendent
