Wimberley ISD Legislative Priorities

Wimberley ISD advocates for increasing the Basic Allotment per-pupil funding in Texas up to the national average to properly fund special education, school safety, student mental health, staff compensation, and increasing operational costs.
Wimberley ISD advocates for the addition of a mechanism to account for an enrollment-based funding model that would adjust per-pupil funding annually to account for inflation.
Wimberley ISD advocates for an increase to the midsize District allotment from .000025 to .0000375 to help ensure that districts, regardless of size, have the necessary funding 1) to provide students with equitable educational opportunities compared to larger districts, 2) to retain skilled educators, and 3) to maintain their vital role in communities across Texas.
Wimberley ISD opposes any state plan that diverts public tax dollars to private schools, homeschool programs, or other educational options that do not meet the same requirements as Texas public schools. which serve all students and maintain transparency to taxpayers and the state.
