Degrees and Certifications:
Andrea Pope is serving her 13th year as a principal, seven of those at Jacob's Well Elementary School. Her 23-year career in public education has included positions as an administrator counselor, and elementary teacher. Each professional opportunity has deepened her understanding of children and how they learn. The daughter of educators, Andrea spent her childhood in Heidelberg, Germany, where her parents taught on a U.S. military base. From her overseas experience, Andrea strengthened her patriotism as an American and soaked in cultural experiences, traveling throughout Europe and parts of Africa. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Tarleton State University with an emphasis on reading instruction and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Her initial graduate coursework included 15 hours of Gifted and Talented Instruction. Andrea also earned a Masters of Education with an emphasis in guidance and counseling. She then completed an additional 36-hour graduate program at Texas State for principal certification.
While in the classroom as a teacher, she was selected to conduct research on reading instruction for SEDL and her students maintained a high rate of success. Andrea believes that an elementary classroom should be interesting, challenging and fun. She wants students to understand that sometimes work is difficult but that overall learning is interesting. She hopes that all students at JWE find that they are cared for and that they are engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
"I love Wimberley and am appreciative of the opportunity to work with the great people of this community. Our students, families, and our teachers are what make Jacob's Well Elementary an incredible school."
When not at Jacob's Well Elementary School, Andrea enjoys time with family and friends. She has two boys and loves being a mom. She loves sports, traveling, and great movies.
