ESSER Grant Information
The American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) of 2021 established the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER) III, a fund dedicated to providing a total of nearly $122 billion to States and school districts to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s students.
Wimberley ISD applied for a grant under this fund, and the application and the Use of Funds Plan was made available to the public for comment on May 13, 2021 through the following week on our district website. No public comments were received. In accordance with Local CB Policy the district provided notice of federal grant applications through an information item at Board meetings on May 17, 2021 and June 21, 2021 and by publishing information on the District's website.
Between March 3, 2021 and May 17, 2021 several meetings were held with the WISD COVID Task Force, the Superintendent's Faculty Advisory Committee, administrators, counselors, and the directors of the district's Custodial, Maintenance, Health & Safety, and Transportation departments. Various projects were discussed at these meetings. Throughout this two-month period the Use of Funds Plan was drafted and revised several times. The final version is attached below.
